Located in the outback town of Dareton, NSW and home to just 456 residents. It is managed by Indigenous and non-indigenous leaders and provides a safe, supportive space for local youth in a safe community environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The transformation is said to be powerful. When new young people first arrive, they often test boundaries, but once they realize they are in a place where they are genuinely respected and where respect is mutual, their whole demeanor begins to shift.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Currently, the Centre offers a diverse range of programs including daily meals, counselling, art, cooking and music education with recently donated instruments. These programs provide more than just activities; they create a safe space where young people can develop a sense of belonging and purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We welocome any donations that can be marked as “Mission to Dareton” or deposited with the description for “Dareton Community Centre”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Please do not throw away your bottle top lids. Plastic bottle top lids can be upcycled into mechanical, 3D-printed prosthetic hands and arms through community recycling programs. It takes roughly 500 to 1,000 lids to create a single prosthetic limb for a child. We have a collection bin just inside the foyer for you to drop your lids into. Once the bin is full they are then delivered to be recycled. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
